Some fields compound at 5x a year: one year of 2027 will hold 3,125 years of 2022. We are in takeoff and RSI is here. Millennium problems fell in 88 hours. The world is asymmetric. Longevity may outrun the clock and dying becomes a choice. Humans will be a small fraction of the world's intelligence. The jagged frontier of science will be smoothed and pushed out. Eight billion people need to come along. As code, intelligence and skill become abundant, value moves elsewhere. Fabrication is the bottleneck: ideas arrive faster than they can be built and tested. ## Original Founders and Companies Original founders see what nobody else sees, and have the depth to back it. Some are commercial scientists taking a result from lab to market. Some are dreamers with a precise, unreasonable picture of the future. Some have lived what the rest of us haven't. They start from an insight and peel the world back layer by layer, seeing more finely each pass, inching toward the destination. It takes courage, a chip on the shoulder, a desire to see the world change, and the ability to compound. We are all in on the bitter lesson. Important progress in science and for humanity will come from data at scale, environments built from experimentation, and compute at scale. We want internet-scale datasets and are excited to fund AI science factories, the labs and physical machinery that produce them. In 2020, I joined FTX as Head of Product. We were a small team working 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. I helped scale the exchange from $15M to over $1B in revenue and led FTX Ventures, where I backed Anthropic's $500M Series B, Cursor's seed round, and a $50M purchase of Solana tokens (worth $8B+ today), a portfolio that later helped the bankruptcy estate make customers whole. I'm a tinkerer by nature and spend most of my time building and testing software. I love helping founders think through product and assemble world-class technical teams.
